What do you love about your profession?
I love that there is always something new to learn and new challenges to solve. Accounting allows me to showcase my strengths while performing my daily job. Another plus, is accountants are always in demand!
How did you choose that profession?
I always wanted to grow up to be just like my mom, who is also an active CPA in the state of Nevada. Therefore, it only made sense to become an accountant like her! I always loved numbers and really felt like I ‘found my people’ when I started my first accounting job.
What’s your favorite (memory) from your Undergrad?
There’s too many to count! I started my undergrad living in the dorms (Argenta Hall), where I met my fiancé who lived three doors down. I then joined Kappa Alpha Theta where I lived the next two years of my undergrad. From the spring formals, to philanthropy events, to relaxing movie nights in, every part of my college experience was something to remember. I also attended my first music festival during my undergrad, and have now attended 20 festivals!
What made you decide to be a COBAA Member?
My brother-in-law was the president of COBAA at the time I joined. He spoke so highly of the organization and the board, and his passion inspired me to get involved. Both of my parents are alumni of the College of Business and my sister and fiancé also attended the University of Nevada, Reno, so the school means a lot to me and my family and has greatly contributed to our success after college. I wanted to be able to give back to my alma-mater.
Tell us about life after college:
Life after college has been busy, yet very rewarding. I moved to Las Vegas to work at Deloitte where I gained the experience to obtain my CPA license. After three years in Las Vegas, I moved back to Reno to be closer to family where I started a new job, got engaged, bought a house, adopted a puppy, and became an aunt again!
