Morgan Gottier (Marketing ’05)
Name: Morgan Gottier
Position: Secretary
Profession/Title: Owner
Company: State 36 Clothing Co.
Experience: 15 Years
Degree/Year: B.S. Marketing/2005
Q. What do you love about your profession?
A. I love being able to represent my pride for the place my family has called home for over 100 years through our products. Owning a Nevada based apparel company has given me the opportunity to work with so many wonderful small business owners and give back to our community in a way that I haven’t been able to before.
Q. How did you choose that profession?
A. I have always been interested in the fashion/retail industry. After designing my senior prom dress in High School, I became even more interested with how I could continue to create items. However, the pressures of life and the need to go to college pushed my passion to the back burner. Years later, my grandfather (a man who meant so much to me) passed away. At this time, I was seeking a way to use my creative mind while the thought of his love for Reno and Nevada kept whispering in my head. I thought I could offer something different in the Nevada apparel industry with my love for fashion and my family’s history. With the supportive push from my husband, I launched State 36 Clothing Co. in October of 2016.
Q. What’s your favorite memory from your Undergrad?
A. Looking back, my time at the University of Nevada gave me so many memories and is a time that I will cherish for many years to come. I met my husband in an Economics class. It definitely was not my favorite class, but meeting my husband made it all worth it. I was also fortunate enough to be a part of the Cheerleading Team during my time at the University. My teammates, cheering at games, going to competitions are some of my most cherished memories. Especially, when our cheer team was able to travel with the Basketball Team during their run to the Sweet 16. That was an exciting experience!
Q. What made you decide to be a COBAA Member?
A. I have been very involved in our daughters’ school for the past six years and I was wanting to use the experience that I gained during my time on the Parent Faculty Association Board to give back to other organizations. Education holds a special place in my heart, so combining my desire to give back to the University and be able to help those who are continuing their education felt like the perfect fit.
Q. Tell us about life after college:
A. Life after college has seem to go by in the blink of an eye. Since graduating in 2005, we have had two beautiful girls and, with both my husband and I being entrepreneurs, started three businesses.. Our years have been filled with growing businesses, chasing after kids, giving back to our community and squeezing in some relaxation time.
