Q. What do you love about your profession?
A. I love the variety I get from my job and the energy you can only find on a college campus. On any given day I could be teaching CPR classes, investigating accidents, or running emergency drills to help better keep employees and students safe. New challenges constantly present themselves and I’m grateful for that.
Q. How did you choose that profession?
A. In many ways the profession chose me. I had worked for the UNR Environmental Health and Safety department as a hazardous materials technician throughout my undergraduate career, and from there went on to work as a Research Assistant for Charles River Laboratories. One day I received a call from my former supervisor at UNR about a new position that was being created that they thought I would be well suited for. I had really missed working for the University and was ready to try something new, so I applied and when they offered me the job, I gladly accepted!
Q. What’s your favorite memory from your Undergrad?
A. There’s so many I have to give at least two! The first memory would undoubtedly be the first time I met my future wife – it was one of those few serendipitous moments in life where everything had to happen exactly the way it did. The second memory is the first time I rushed Mackay Stadium after we beat UNLV to keep the cannon blue.
Q. What made you decide to be a COBAA Member?
A. I was approached by a board member about joining the COBAA board as a graduate student liaison, which came through my involvement as a council member on the Graduate Student Association (GSA) council. I figured this would be a great way to help solidify the connection between COBAA and University students themselves, so I jumped at the opportunity to join. Being able to give back to the University while bridging students to COBAA has been very rewarding.
Q. Tell us about life after college:
A. Life after college has been a whirlwind! Many great things have come my way including getting married, buying a home, and welcoming a new a baby girl to the world. I have enjoyed a rewarding career as a health and safety professional for UNR, and continue looking for ways to give back.
